Faculty: Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies. This three-year Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc Hons) program provides a rigorous academic grounding in both politics and sociology, focusing on theoretical ideas and research skills to understand the fast-moving changes of social and political life. In Politics, you will explore power, governance, and the relationships between countries, communities, and individuals, becoming familiar with different views and methods of analysis. In Sociology, you will gain expertise in studying social structures, beliefs, power, and representation, with particular research strengths in areas like consumption, culture, digital society, environment, ethnicity and race, gender, migration, modern slavery, multiculturalism, and social theory. The BSc pathway emphasizes research skills and quantitative methods more strongly than a BA, preparing you to critically analyze data and conduct your own social and political investigations. In your final year, you can choose to write a research dissertation in either discipline. The program fosters a vibrant learning environment through regular workshops, guest speakers, reading groups, and social events, as well as support for student societies.
