This 2-year (full-time) Master of Public Policy (MPP) program, with a specialization in Science and Technology Policy, is offered by one of the USA’s top-rated public affairs schools (ASU’s School of Public Affairs). The program is designed to equip students with the analytical and leadership skills to understand and address the complex interplay between science, technology, innovation, and public policy. It integrates core public policy analysis skills (economics, quantitative and qualitative research methods, ethics) with specialized coursework in topics such as technology governance, innovation policy, science funding, ethics of emerging technologies, and the societal impacts of scientific and technological advancements. Students will develop analytical tools for crafting effective policies related to research and development, cybersecurity, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and more. The program emphasizes experiential learning, professional development, and opportunities to collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, and technology companies. Graduates are prepared to lead in areas where scientific and technological advancements intersect with public challenges. While core MPP courses are on the Downtown Phoenix campus, specialized S&T policy courses may be cross-listed or accessible from the Tempe campus (home to ASU's engineering and science colleges).

Employment opportunities exist in federal agencies (e.g., NSF, NIH, OSTP, NIST), state and local governments, universities, research institutions, technology companies, defense contractors, and advocacy groups. The program also serves as an excellent foundation for doctoral studies in public policy, science and technology studies (STS), and related fields.
