Department: Department of Sociology. This three-year full-time degree offers a deep and critical understanding of how societies work and how individuals navigate their way through larger social structures. You will explore contemporary social issues, focusing on power, social inequality, and social justice. The program encourages students to develop their "sociological imagination" to analyze global issues and their own social identity. The curriculum includes specialist training in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, equipping you to design, conduct, and report on an original piece of social research (dissertation). The department views the analysis of social inequalities (intersections of race, class, gender) as central to its critical and engaged sociology.
