This joint honors program combines the study of French language, culture, and society with a comprehensive foundation in linguistics. Students will develop advanced language skills in French (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), explore French and Francophone culture, while also gaining expertise in the scientific study of language, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The program emphasizes the intersection of language, culture, and linguistic theory, and includes a mandatory year abroad in a French-speaking country, significantly enhancing language proficiency and cultural immersion.
