School: School of Engineering, College of Science and Engineering (jointly delivered with The Glasgow School of Art). This four-year Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BEng Hons) program provides a comprehensive education that integrates strong engineering fundamentals with creative product design principles. You will develop a deep understanding of how products are conceived, designed, engineered, and manufactured, focusing on aspects such as mathematics, dynamics, electronics, materials science, statics, thermodynamics, and advanced engineering skills. The curriculum includes extensive studio-based learning, individual and group project work, and laboratory sessions, with significant time spent at both the University of Glasgow and The Glasgow School of Art. Key areas include design for manufacture, human factors, microelectronics in consumer products, and advanced materials. The program's interdisciplinary approach, favoured by industry, also allows for flexibility to switch to most other engineering disciplines at the end of Year 1. The BEng degree is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) and is in the process of gaining reaccreditation with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, helping graduates work towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
