School: School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, Department of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying. This Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) program is designed for students who want to be at the heart of managing the commercial aspects of construction and civil engineering projects, from initial calculations to final figures. The course aims to minimise costs and enhance value for money, delivering projects on time and to the required quality. With sustainable construction methods and technology at the core of learning, students develop a thorough understanding of finances, cost planning and estimating, law, contract administration, architectural science, building engineering, and measurement related to construction projects. It is professionally accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), and the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM), providing a clear pathway to chartered status. An optional paid placement year is available.
Graduates are highly sought after in the construction and built environment industry, prepared for roles requiring strong financial, contractual, and project management skills. Career options include: Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Assistant Contract Manager, Graduate Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Management Trainee, Project Manager, and roles in construction consultancy, contracting, and client-side organizations.
